Reclaiming Your Calling: A Pathway Back to Chiropractic Practice
For many women chiropractors, life often takes unexpected turns. Whether stepping away from practice to raise a family, care for loved ones, or navigate personal challenges, the decision to reenter the profession can be both exciting and daunting. The landscape of chiropractic care evolves rapidly, and returning to practice after an extended hiatus can present challenges—from refreshing clinical skills to rebuilding confidence and reestablishing a patient base.
Women Chiropractors understands these challenges and has developed a Reentry Program designed to bridge the gap for doctors seeking to return to the profession. Founded by Dr. Cyndy Shaft, and continued and poured into yearly by WDC’s staff, Board, and Speaker’s Council, this program isn’t just about technical knowledge; it’s about reigniting passion, fostering connections, and ensuring success for every woman chiropractor ready to reclaim her career.
One graduate of the 2020 cohort said of the program, “Women Chiropractors’ Re-Entry program prepared me with the skills and confidence I need to step back into my role in practice. The mentors of the class walked alongside us, offering much more than just their lectures- they shared their expertise, their love, and created friendship in the class mentorship. I truly know that all of these powerhouse women who led this class have my back going forward into practice.” This is about changing lives and mentoring women with the simple mission of letting them know they’re not alone, and equipping them with the knowledge they need to succeed.
Overcoming Barriers to Reentry
Many women face significant hurdles when reentering the chiropractic profession, including:
Skill Refreshment: The science and techniques of chiropractic care continue to advance. Keeping up with new methodologies, technology, marketing, business practices, and overall best practices is essential for confidence and competence.
Business and Marketing Challenges: For those reopening or joining a practice, understanding the current healthcare climate, marketing strategies, and patient acquisition methods is crucial.
Personal Confidence: Time away from practice care can create self-doubt. Many women wonder if they still “have it” or if they can successfully balance professional and personal responsibilities. Our many speakers take time to mentor the class out of burnout, and truly pour into them
How the Women Chiropractors Reentry Program Helps
The Reentry Program is specifically designed to provide a structured, supportive path back into the profession. Here’s what participating chiropractors can expect:
1. Clinical Support and Specialty Practice Guidance
Through CE courses and mentorship, participants refresh their clinical skills and gain insight into the latest evidence-based chiropractic techniques. The program also provides guidance on specialty practices to help chiropractors refine their expertise in specific areas of care.
2. Business and Practice Growth Support
For those reentering private practice or seeking employment, the program includes business strategy sessions, marketing training, and networking opportunities with established professionals. Understanding how to position oneself in the modern chiropractic landscape is key to long-term success.
3. Mentorship and Community
One of the most valuable aspects of the Reentry Program is the opportunity to connect with other women who have successfully returned to practice. Through mentorship, group discussions, and networking events, participants gain the support and encouragement they need to thrive.
4. Flexible Learning and Implementation
Recognizing that every chiropractor’s journey is unique, the program offers a flexible approach—allowing participants to tailor their reentry experience based on their needs, schedule, and professional goals. While there are no in-person meetups or hands-on instruction in this program, participants will have access to a wealth of online resources and expert guidance.
Why Reentering Chiropractic is Worth It
Returning to practice isn’t just about reclaiming a career—it’s about rediscovering a purpose, reigniting a passion, and making a meaningful impact on the health and wellness of patients. Women chiropractors bring a unique perspective to healthcare, and their presence in the profession is invaluable.
“This program saved my life,” says Karen Hudes, program graduate in our original class, now WDC Platinum Member and WDC Board Secretary.
